Panel Media: Think New Spatial System Now!
by Charlotte Tamschick
“Spaces are energetic places of poetic resistance”
(Jean-Christophe Ammann)
The personal space around us, which is always with us, has become vulnerable. The coronavirus crisis changes our way of interaction with and inside of spaces, our use of spaces. Uncertainty arises, but also great creative potential. Former spaces of passage, offside and ignored, are being developed for more versatile uses. People avoid hot spots and re-discover the adjacent non-space; a new space matrix is established. The awareness of an area’s aura is raised. Urban space is becoming more important too, rural space is re-inventing itself.
How can spaces be reconstructed, utilised, discovered virtually or in the real world, and experienced these days? More and more, architects and scenographers think media rather than materials. Museums and exhibitions offer contactless experiences, virtual tours, video tours, online galleries, digital shows, objects made tangible by 3D databases, games, object stories, 360 ° panorama tours, audio dramas …
During the lockdown, cultural institutions such as museums and theatres were forced to re-curate their objects and works and find innovative ways of communication. They showed us how virtual spaces can be re-designed. However, a real experience is often lacking; we need physical contact again, the social dimension. Scenography is multi-disciplinary, regarding content and dramatic composition – it translates topics into spatial experiences. This transformation can take place in any space.
We want to discuss what the implementation/interpretation of content in real and virtual spaces at museums, exhibitions, concert halls and theatres could look like in the future with our many interesting speakers, bearing in mind the smallest space, psyche, the head, as well as the infinite space of nature.
Please think and install new spatial system now!
